Dear Ms Hetcher,

I was very pleased to find the vacancy for the position of editor on your website. Ever since I have been studying journalism, I’ve set myself a very specific goal: contribute to the production of children’s news. Therefore I’d like to apply for this editorial function.

In The Netherlands there’s a program for children’s news called Jeugdjournaal. Just like Newsround, its purpose is informing children about everything that’s happening in the world. Reporting to children requires a specific approach. During a short traineeship at Jeugdjournaal I turned out to be a very capable text writer for this target group.

This job vacancy seems to be the chance of a lifetime. All over the world, Newsround is highly respected for the way they produce children’s news. I think I can be a true contribution to the production of this program. Next to writing texts, I have a lot experience with AVID and I’m used to work with different kinds of cameras. The production of an item independently will not be a problem at all. I’m also convinced that it’s always valuable to have someone working in your editorial office with experience in another European country.

To sum up I find myself a suitable applicant for this vacancy and I think I meet the requirements. Therefore I hope that you will give me the opportunity to give an extended explanation of my Curriculum Vitae in a future meeting. Additional education and qualification characteristics are summed up in my resume.
